Netwoks:Connecting two or more Computers to work together in order to share different files and resources like printer, fax machine, scanner etc. Differnet Computer Networks are established depending upon their distance and nature of the organization.
LAN (Local Area Network)
Set up a network between computers placed in a building and their distance is relatively closer.
WAN (Wide Area Network)
As its name describes it links up computers that are very far from each other across the globe through telephone lines and radio waves.
CAN (Campus Area Network)
Such kinds of networks are confined to a limited area such as in a campus or military specific area.
MAN (Metropolitan Area Network)
This network is much bigger than CAN as it covers the larger area of a city. It maintains the networking in a city, within the city premises you can access data and other resources.
Some further technologies are also important in building networks like architecture, topologies and protocols. Protocols:"It is a set of rules and standards for building reliable communication between networks"
It includes the standards on which data has to be formatted and send message in the form of packets. It is responsible for the data acknowledgement, data compression, secure and reliable transformation of data over a communication channel. Topologies:
The configuration of cables, computers and other peripheral devices while designing a Networking. Two types of topologies exists; Physical Topologies and Logical Topologies.
Architecture:
It determines the design of a Computer Network and its essentials such as its communication protocols, routers, switches, access methods and wireless access points.
